I
f you love provençal architecture, this is where to get
your authentic materials to build, renovate or simply
just improve your home. Caroline and Sébastien
Chabaud will help guide you in their display grounds in
Apt and Saint-Rémy-de-Provence.
It was in 1965 that Jean Chabaud, a miller by trade,
reinvented himself, along with his family, while salvaging
material from his dismantled windmill.
This marked the beginning of a new era of buying and
reselling old material. Initially, they only worked with old
roof tiles but very soon they diversified and expanded their
inventory. Business boomed, which led to them purchasing
land to set up a display ground.
This first location became their children’s favourite
playground. The brother and sister, Caroline and
Sébastien, soon fell in love with their parents’ passion for
old stones. As soon as they’d finished their studies, they
took full advantage of their dad’s experience, along with
that of various design architects and other professionals in
the construction business, to learn their trade.
With their aesthetic sensibility as well as their expansive
technical know-how, they don’t just stop at reselling old
material. Nowadays, the Chabaud company has various
finished products on offer and has a stone cutting workshop
where elements to fit existing projects can be created.
Even if it’s just to take a look, you should visit one of
the two outdoor display locations to discover authentic
decorations. Beautiful stones, fireplaces, beams and
ancient roof tiles as well as stone staircases, fountains and
sculptures await you. They’ll take your breath away.
