Intercontinental Marseille Hôtel Dieu
By its sheer scale and majestic structure, the InterContinental Marseille — Hôtel Dieu is one of the most eye-catching buildings on the Vieux-Port. Towering over the Panier district, it enjoys views across to the Notre-Dame-de-la-Garde basilica.
Nestled in the historic building of the Hôtel-Dieu, reinvented by architect Jean-Philippe Nuel, the hotel presents an elegant marriage of past and present, antique art and contemporary décor. Its 194 rooms, 11 of them suites, reveal the cachet of a bygone era, with remarkably high ceilings reaching more than five metres in some suites; the presidential suite opens onto an 80 m² private terrace. Emblematic chef Lionel Levy oversees all the dining: the Capian bar, the Les Fenêtres brasserie and the Michelin-starred (since 2014) gastronomic restaurant Alcyone, extended in summer by a vast 750 m² terrace.
A few steps from the Panier, the Mucem and the Vieux-Port, the hotel is also a gateway to Provence. The high point of any stay? A moment at the Clarins spa, which reinterprets the Roman baths for a sensory voyage across the Mediterranean.
