Atelier Pascal Bouterin

Born in the lands of Provence, Pascal Bouterin was seized early by the light of the South, which led him to develop a singular eye. Reproducing is a craft; interpreting is letting go.

His works explore urban atmospheres, where colour becomes the true leitmotif of his art. He approaches painting as he approaches jazz: trained as a drummer and percussionist, he conceives each canvas in a burst of spontaneity, favouring the instant, the rhythm and the emotion. Painting is not a mere reproduction of reality, but an intimate interpretation, an atmosphere shaped with subtlety.

Based in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, at the foot of Les Baux, he works in his living studio surrounded by nature and his goats. For more than ten years, cobalt blue has become his signature — alive, shifting with the materials, sometimes burnt to reveal greater depth and contrast.
